Description
Schlage Standard Practice Locks are basic lock picking training aids that give locksmith students and hobbyists something on which to practice lock picking skills. The cylinders we supply are high quality brass, closely approximating the high standards of commercial hardware. We supply Standard Practice Locks with a variety of pinnings to allow the user to progress at his or her own speed. These cylinders are rekeyable using standard rekeying tools and techniques.
The best procedure is to begin where your particular level of experience would indicate. Obviously if you have some experience picking locks and have developed a degree of skill, you would not purchase anything less challenging than 5-pinned cylinders. If on the other hand you have never held a lock pick in your hand, it is advisable to purchase one 2-pinned or 3-pinned cylinder and, if you can afford it, a 5- or 6-pinned Standard Practice Lock for a bit later when you work up to that level. Because these cylinders are the very same kind found in about 90% of all deadbolts and keyed knoblocks in the country, you'll be working with locks that will prepare you for the real world situations coming up.
Availible in 2,3,5 and 6 pin tumblers.
